01-28-2010 City of las Cruces 1 PE0PLE I E L P I I I P E I P L E 2 3 Minutes 4 LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING 5 Thursday, January 28,2010 6 7 1 Call to Order—President Ford Ballard called the meeting to order at 3.04 p.m. 8 Board Members Present: President Ford Ballard, Vice President Diana Youngren, Pat Pederson 9 and Robert Branshaw Others in attendance- Lon Gnunet, Public Services Director; Ryan Daily, 10 library patron, and James Mitchell, Administrative Assistant. 11 2. Review of December 10, 2009 minutes. Corrections were made to as to form and 12 content. Motion was made and seconded to approve minutes as corrected, motion passed. 13 3 Committee Report 14 a. Friends of TBML-There was no representative present. 15 4 Library Administrator's Report- 16 Lynette Schurdevin, Interim Administrator, was absent due to attending Library 17 Legislative Day in Santa Fe. The published Administrator's report was distributed. It was 18 noted that the Munson Center was closed on January 22nd due to high levels of carbon 19 monoxide, and the Library was experiencing higher use. It is expected that the center will 20 reopen February 7h after repairs. Lynette Schurdevm and Lon Grumet, along with two 21 women from Dona Ana County, visited Rincon and Radium Springs on January 22nd to 22 assess the possibility of expanding to satellite operations in these areas. Interest was 23 expressed by the Joint Utilities Department of using the old Bookmobile as an onsite I project van for crews working in isolated areas;the revenue from the sale will be split 2 fifty/fifty between the County and the City 3 5 Unfinished Business 4 a. Ms. Grumet stated that she has not heard from the Mayor's office regarding the 5 recognition of Arlene Dohr 6 b. When asked about the hiring process of a new Library Administrator, Ms. Grumet 7 stated that with the withdrawal of the top two rated candidates it may be necessary 8 to re-advertise the position to obtain the best qualified person. 9 c.
