01-29-1962 28-2 January 29, 1962 _ The Board of Trustees of the Thomas Branigan hemorial Library met at 4:45 F.M, on Monday, January 29th, 1962, in the Librarian's Office, Members present were Mrs. Swartz, Mrs, Roach, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Shannon, besides the Librarian and Secretary of the Board, Miss Caffey. Mr. Shannon presided, Minutes of the November 27tb and the November 30th meetings were approved as read, . Mr. Taylor reported that a new gas water heater had been installed in the East Court Street House, and that a garbage can had been bought for this house also, Miss Caffey asked permission to buyebinds for the Library Norkbovi, Mgrs. Roach moved that Miss Caffey be authorized to purchase either bamboo or metal venetian blinds for the Library workroom. Mrs. Swartz seconded the motion. Motion carried. Miss Caffey announced that all the Library property stored in the Library Annex would be moved to the Library this coming week-end. She will then have been Mr. Freudenthal cance104 the insurance policy taken out in Boitwabbr to protect said property. Mr. Taylor said that arrangements could now be made to repair these Offices so that Dr. Drake could move into them, Mr. Shannon said that first before repairing the rooms that the Board should have the Library Annex roof inspected and repaired and the bill sent to the Allied Construction Company. After,#ue discuss*dnthe Board decided that Mr. Taylor would write again ti the Allied Construction Company, giving them a week's time to repair the roof, otherwise the above action would be taken. Miss Caffey reported that the construltion work on the Library whad been completed{ except for some minor adjustments, hese should be adjusted by the end of the current week. She read a letter of thanks from Gillis and Dean Co. Me Caffey said that.she had discussed with �r. Gutierrez the gas light that x111 not burn. He said that he would talk the matter overrvith rr. Gaines and that the City will attend to it. Mr. Taylor imported on the steps taken to have a mural painted over the front of the old stage. Mr. Barrick of New Mexico State University had recommended , Mr. Bill Bartheld. Mr. Taylor talked with r'r. Bartheld, telling him that the Library Board could not pay.for this painting but probably could pay for the needed materials. He was asked to submit sketches of the proposed mural to the Library Board, Mrs, Roach moved the the Library Board agree toy the cost of.materials used by Mr. Bartheld in gpi.nting the mural over the old to e. Mrs. Swartz seconded. Motion carried. Mrs. Swartz reported that the San Isidro-Garden Club had appointed a Committee of five, with herself as chairman, to draw plans for the landscaping of the Library grounds. Exact plans and an estimate vastdbe submitted to Sears, Roebuck by the 15th of March. Mr. Bryant of the Extension Service will•met with - the Committee and Miss Caffey if possible this week to discussithe plans., He w*11 also draw the plans to scale. The Committee will know by the 15th of April if their pdins are acceptable to Sears, Roebuck. Mrs. Swartz had obtained official permission from Mr. Gutierrez for this landscaping of the Library Grounds, A letter of permission signed by the Mayor must be sent with the plans.
