05-07-1962 285 May 7, 1952 The Board of Trustees of the Thomas Branigan 1.emorial Library met at 4:45 F.V. on Yonday, pay 7th, 1.962 (instead of the regua.rly scheduled date of April 3Cth) in the Librarian' s Office, Members present were hors, Reach, Yrs. Swartz, Mr. Shannon, Ms. Taylor, besides the Librar-an aa.,! Secretary of the Board, Viss Caffey, Mr. Shannon pr$sided. The reading of the minutes of the last meeting was waived, Mr. Taylor reported on the progess of work op the Branigan properties: 1, The Library Annex - for general repairs such as screens, doors, thresholds, windows, lintels over the windows, opening the new drn^, cr,e—te stoop and walk - the cost will be approximatelyTh:e changing of the cooler and heating system will include a new air cooler, two outlets with ducts, removal of old cooler to another spot, the cost for materials and labor ,;+441.43• however, if a separate circuit is installed for the two coolers � whic' is needed because of the poor conditmon of the electrical system) x55,01 would he added +,n the cost. The tiling of the floor will cost ;,249.30. Mrs, Roach moved that the Board of Trustees approve the repairs that have been arranged for to date on the Library Annex, and that Mr. Taylor be authorized to have the cooler system installed, Mrs. Swartz seconded, ?'otion carried. 2. }louse at 406 W. owls Cruces Avenue - Er. Taylor reported that he had had emervency PPPQAP® :,tiide in the house because some of the plaster was about to fall, and this will now have to be painted. Ne also reported that Fred's Welding Shop had ptaced sheet metal_ around the air conditioners, i..-rs. Roach made a motion that payment be approved for these emergency repairs and the sheet metal. work, Mrs. Swartz seconded. Motion carried. 3. House at 331 `%. Court - =r. Taylor recanted that repairs were needed on the screen doors which Louis Sanchez could probably do, The :'actor had asked for paint to repaint, two rooms, having, her brother do the work for the rent money. As this would not be a very satisfactory arrangeryent, T'r. Taylor will arrange for Ramon Buena to do this work. New linoleum is needed in the kitchen. The fence needs work done on it to keep it from falling, down. 1'.rs. Swartz made a motion that Mr. Taylor be authori.7edto make the necessar, repairs on the East Court Street house. Potion carried, i3ss Caffey reported that the Wednesday Literary Club would like to do something for the Library in a small way, possibly pay for the materials to be used in painting the mural. . Miss Caffey reported that tha United Fund did not pay its rant for last month but will pay it this tenth plus the current month's rent, "rs. Rodriguez owes 30 on her rent for the period YaY 5th to Jure 5th. Mrs. Swartz reported that the San Isidro Garden Club had obtained money from Sears Roebuck for landscaping on the Library grounds, this money hill. be available in the Fall.. In the meantime the Club will meet with the City Horticul- ttrist to discuss what can be done now, The Club plans to dosomelandscaping on the corner lot, the east lot and possibly the floimr beds in front of the Library. This work to start immediately as the National fxtension Clubs Convention is to be held in Las Cruces in August, The Club will plant ground cover, flowers and 280 perhaps a Yucca which will be placed back of the Wonunent. Yr. Taylor reported that he had given tbV vegas to the Library to replace the worm ones at the Library Annex. I--.
