07-10-1968 334 July 10, 1968 The Board of Trustees of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library held a special meeting on Wednesday, July 10, 1968, in the Librarian's Office. Members present were Mrs. Roach, Mrs. Swartz, Mr. Taylor, besides the Librarian and Secretary of the Board, Miss Caffey. Minutes of the May 28th meeting were approved as read. Mr. Taylor presented to the Board members for their approval and signatures a resolution concerning Mr. Shannon which is to be sent to City Commission. A copy will also be sent to the Shannon"Eabljy. The following resolution was developed by the Board members: The Board of Trustees of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library having heard that the Stull property, immediately to the North of and joining the Branigan Library, is available for purchase for $75,000.00, hereby requests the Commissioners of the City of Las Cruces to purchase this property for future library expansion and parking. The Library at the present time has no parking Brea for library patrons. Within the not too distant future, city growth will necessitate library expansion and additional services. Because of these reasons, and supported by the following statement, found in the Harland Battholomew Report of May, 1968; "Due to its present location at the comer of a very narrow block, the only feasible way of extending the library site would be to the North. The Board of Trustees respectfully requests positive consideration of the City Commission on this request. As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned.
