Main Street, Las Cruces, NM 88001. MEMBERS PRESENT: Robert Williams Ernie Campos David Chavez Tony Dahlin MEMBERS ABSENT: Faith Hutson STAFF PRESENT: Sara Gonzales, CLC Planner Becky Baum, RC Creations, LLC, Recording Sec. I. CALL TO ORDER (6:00) Chair Williams called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - January 2, 2018 The minutes were motioned, seconded, and unanimously approved. III. NEW BUSINESS Case 19DR0500006: Request for approval of the construction of a new addition and renovation to an existing commercial structure located on the southwest corner of E. Amador Ave. and S. Esperanza St.; a.k.a. 706 E. Amador Avenue. The subject property is zoned C-2 (General Commercial District) and is located outside of the Original Townsite in the South Mesquite Overlay District. Submitted by Merlin Enterprises, contractor, on behalf of Samaniego Commercial Properties LLC, property owner. Council District 1. Sara Gonzales presented the request for approval of construction/renovation of a commercial property probably vacant for more than five years. It will be stuccoed and painted. Applicant is required to bring the site into compliance, providing landscaping, new parking, ADA, bicycle parking. The tower at the juncture of the building will be at the required 25-feet height restriction. Tony Dahlin professed involvement in the project structurally speaking only. Also asked about the signpost. Sara Gonzales expressed that the signpost has not been discussed with staff yet. She discussed the various options on the signpost and if removed. 1 David Chavez asked about color. 2 3 Sara Gonzales explained that the applicant is going with the color scheme laid out on 4 the site drawings. The applicant is willing to vary colors if need be. 5 6 Ernie Campos motioned. Second by David Chavez. Motion passed unanimously. 7 8 2. Case 19DR0500007: Request for approval of the construction of a duplex on 9 a vacant lot located on the northeast corner of South Mesquite Street and 10 Kansas Avenue. The subject property is zoned R-2 (Medium Density 11 Residential District) and is located within the Original Townsite in the South 12 Mesquite Overlay District. Submitted by Hector and Martha Arreooa, property 13 owners. Council District 1. 14 15 Sara Gonzales presented the request for approval of the construction of a duplex. 16 Explanation of why no street address was discussed. 17 18 David Chavez asked about fencing. 19 20 Hector Arreola explained his layout for fencing. 21 22 Sara Gonzales explained further the options for fencing. 23 24 Hector Arreola asked about putting tiles over the porch area. 25 26 Robert Williams said sure or metal, and also suggested the front areas higher or lower, 27 vary it some way as a suggestion. 28 29 Tony Dahlin motioned to approve.
