06-27-2012 Fourth of July Committee Meeting Notes June 27, 12:00 pm City Hall Members Present: Chair, Marla Ridgeway, Christopher Cruz, Kathy Mesa, and Kari Shepanand Tamra Neal Staff: Robert Caldwell, Ex-Officio, Letty Garcia and Roseann Trujillo, Recording Secretary Committee Members approved minutes from the June 20, 2012 Meeting. Robert Caldwell stated that the color guard will be the Las Cruces High School JROTC. Christopher Cruz stated the Electric Light Parade judges are Susan Raitt, Valerie Martinez and Diana Peru. Robert Caldwell stated that he would like to move the Judges area to the side of City Hall. Robert Caldwell stated that he has to do a presentation to City Council at 1:00 p.m. in Council Chambers and would like the committee to be there. He stated that he plans to explain to Council what we are planning on doing. Downtown Merchants have been sent a letter informing them about what is going on. Robert Caldwell stated that in "My Las Cruces" news paper there's a story talking about the history of the 4th of July Celebration. That started in 1987. Robert Caldwell stated that he had a logistic meeting last week with city staff. To go over city closers and street closers. Also the District parking lot will be closed at 6:00 p.m. as well as Picacho and Main Street will also be closed. Robert Caldwell stated that we also need to put together a piece of paper to put on the cars along the streets letting them know that if your car is still park after 8:00 you will not be able to get out. Robert Caldwell stated that we will only accept parade entry by fax or mail. But will not issue any new ones after the June 29. Robert Caldwell stated we have 6 Golf Carts that will be at City Hall. Committee will meet at 5:00 at City Hall July 3rd to start setting up for the parade. Marla Ridgeway stated that she has a vendor that will need 220 power. Vendors' meeting is at 3:00 in front Rio Grande Theatre. Marla Ridgeway stated that she has contacted all of the vendors of the meeting change. Volunteer's shirts will be ready. Robert Caldwell stated that he hear back from Dona Ana Art Council they will not open at all. Catering for VIP area will start at 6:00 p.m. Robert Caldwell stated that he has announcers from the radio stations. Marla Ridgeway stated that ChaChi's will do the catering for the VIP area on July 0 Next De-brief meeting will be July 11, 2012. Meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
