Guests and Representatives 1. Karen Dahmer — MV Hospice MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Minutes were handed out for September 26, 2006 2006. They were read by all present, motion by Cosme Padilla to approve, second by Charlie Revie. Motion accepted, all approved. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Kevin Dasing reported on the Walk of Honor. The LC Sun -News finally ran the article concerning the brick project. Interest in the bricks is high, need a deadline to instill people completing and turning tin the applications. JR will check with the Community Foundation for the number of applications turned in. Kevin reported that the Veterans Wall Committee has designated Veterans Day for the unveiling of the names for the wall for the Persian Gulf conflict. The formal ceremony will be at 4.30pm with the Garrison Flag retreat after at 5.00pm. OLD BUSINESS: The Veterans Day Parade was discussed, scheduled for Saturday, November 1 lth at 10.00am, with staging at Loretto Town Square between 8.30am-9.00am. There are currently 52 entries in the parade. Information is on website lcvetsday.org. The informational pamphlet for Veterans Park was discussed, there will be an initial order of 5,000, Kevin advised that he is still gathering information about all plaques and memorials for the pamphlet. The complaint about the dedication plaque at Veterans Park is still open, Kevin and Dolores will continue to work on this issue, they will refer to old minutes for additional information.. The statue for Lt. Sackett at the new city hall was discussed, item still open. Garrison Flag dates were discussed, next flag raising is on Veterans Day. Kevin briefly discussed the Veteran Museum Project, item still open. NEW BUSINESS: The dedication of the Persian Gulf War names at Veterans Park will be on Veterans Day at 4.30pm. The upcoming Pearl Harbor Day ceremony was discussed, item will remain open. The next Garrison Flag raising will be on Veterans Day, November 11, 2006. JR will continue to run announcements in the local paper to try to get the public to participate. Carlsbad. NM is interested in a Veteran Wall there, the Carlsbad mayor has been keen about our design and success. Dan Reyna officially resigned and will be replaced on the VAAB by Bob Lorie, Bob will be invited to the next meeting and will be given the necessary paperwork to complete. GOOD OF THE ORDER: Jack reported that the Marine Corp League needs more space for their Toys for Tots, they have contacted VFW 6917 for possible storage there. Karen reported that the MV Hospice is having a veteran reception on 11/13/06 at 3.30pm. Ben reported that there will be a Marine Birthday Ball at the Mesilla Valley Best Western on 11/10/06. Charlie reported that the Congress is in recess, he still is working on Medicare Laws and legislative issues. NEXT MEETING: A motion to adjourn was made by Jack Petrosky, seconded by Cosme Padilla.
