Karen Dahmer — MV Hospice MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Minutes were handed out for August 29, 2006. They were read by all present, motion by Larry Candelaria to approve, second by Ben Balderama. Motion accepted, all approved. It was briefed that the meeting was originally scheduled for August 22, 2006, and was rescheduled for August 29, 2006. A reminder that all meetings in the future are held on the 4th Tuesday of every month. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Kevin Dasing reported on the Walk of Honor. Kevin reported that he has contacted Borman Auto about an advertisement; interest in the brochure and applications are starting to increase. Kevin again advised that they are receiving applications and the initial order will be for 1,000 bricks. Kevin reported that the Veterans Wall Committee has designated Veterans Day for the unveiling of the names for the wall for the Persian Gulf conflict. The formal ceremony will be at 4.30pm with the Garrison Flag retreat after at 5.00pm. 0 OLD BUSINESS: The Veterans Day Parade was discussed, scheduled for Saturday, November 11 1" at 10.00am, with staging at Loretto Town Square between 8.30am-9.00am. The parade will now end at the District Court parking lot with a ceremony after at Branigan Library. The informational pamphlet for Veterans Park was discussed, there will be an initial order of 5,000. The complaint about the dedication plaque is still open, Kevin and Dolores will continue to work on this issue. The statue for Lt. Sackett at the new city hall was discussed, item still open. Karen Dahmer advised the board about her meeting with JR concerning a veteran courtyard at MV Hospice, she advised that under a current expansion plan, they want to have a courtyard at their facility dedicated to veterans. She is open for suggestions; they are located at 299 East Montana. NEW BUSINESS: Dan Reyna submitted a letter of resignation concerning his appointment on the VAAB representing the Reserve Officer Association. JR advised that he will try to contact another member of that organization to fill the vacancy. The next Garrison Flag raising will be on Veterans Day, November 11, 2006. JR will continue to run announcements in the local paper to try to get the public to participate. Kevin discussed the Veteran Museum and it's possible location and capital outlay, item will remain open. Dolores advised that the POW flag at Veterans Park will be replaced, JR advised that the Garrison Flagpole is in need of maintenance, the pulley at the top of the flagpole needs to be periodically maintained, Dolores will let City Parks know. It was noted that we have invited a representative from the VA Outpatient Clinic, JR will notify them concerning next meeting time and date. GOOD OF THE ORDER: Kevin and JR advised that they will distribute more brochures for the Walk of Honor. Ben Balderama reported that there will be a Special Forces Enchilada Lunch fundraiser at the American Legion on October 21, 2006 from loam-2pm. NEXT MEETING: A motion to adjourn was made by Larry Candelaria, seconded by Robert Ferguson. Meeting was adjourned at 10.10am. Next meeting is scheduled for October 24, 2006.
