Leticia Garcia — Senator Domenici's Office 2. Donna McClanahan — Representative Pearce's Office MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Minutes were handed out for June 27, 2006 and July 25, 2006 meetings. A quorum was not present to vote on acceptance of minutes. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Kevin Dasing reported on the Walk of Honor. JR and Kevin worked on a Public Service Announcement, it was not run in local papers. Will resend the announcement. Kevin advised that they are receiving applications and the initial order will be for 1,000 bricks. Kevin reported that the Veterans Wall at Veterans Park is in need of donations. They will be adding names for the Gulf War and making corrections and additions. OLD BUSINESS: The Veterans Day Parade was discussed, scheduled for Saturday, November 11th at 10.00am. There will be a change of route, ending at the District Court parking lot with a ceremony after at Branigan Library. The informational pamphlet for Veterans Park was discussed, Kevin and JR and Dolores attended a meeting with City Manager Terrence Moore and staff on 08/08/06 and they will print 5,000 brochures concerning the Veterans Park. They will also be installing a informational bulletin board at the park. The meeting with Senator Bingaman's staff on 08/08/06 went very well and numerous veteran issues were discussed. NEW BUSINESS: There will be a meeting at City Council on September 11, to discuss planning and funding of the museum. Kevin advised that this is the next step in the long process to get a museum here. The next Garrison Flag raising will be September 4th for Labor Day and September 11th for Patriot Day. JR has started to run announcements in the paper to try to get the public to participate. JR discussed a meeting with Karen Dahmer concerning a Veterans Courtyard at Mesilla Valley Hospice. Larry discussed "TrackWays" and the Natural History Museum, he advised that both museums (Veteran and Natural History) are much needed. GOOD OF THE ORDER: JR and Leticia advised that Senator Domenici will be presenting a Purple Heart Medal to WWII veteran William Rice tomorrow at Loretto Town Centre. A parade for National Guard returnees is tentatively scheduled for 09/02/06. NEXT MEETING: Meeting was adjourned at 10.00am.
