Motion made to accept minutes of May 23 was made by Charlie, seconded by Ben, motion psssed. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Kevin Dasing reported on the museum, advised that the Rio Rancho museum is now in the forefront for approval, he will continue to advocate. The Veterans Shelter was discussed, this item is still open and pending financing. The pamphlets have arrived for the Walk of Honor at Veterans Park, Kevin handed out numerous brochures, they will be delivered to all service organizations. OLD BUSINESS: The informational pamphlet for Veterans park was discussed, Dolores will set a meeting with the city manager to discuss this. She also advised that some directional signs to the park have been installed. Kevin asked about the dedication plaque, staffed with Dolores, she will look into this. Joe Heintz day resulted in a Certificate of Appreciation presented to Joe on 07/17/06 at the City Council meeting. JR presented the Identity Theft brochures prepared by the Attorney General's Office, advised of continuing problems with this crime. The picnic tables and water fountains at Veteran's Park were discussed, item still in work. The Garrison flag responsibility was discussed, it was determined that the Board would continue to take responsibility of the flag. The item concerning the DAV Handicap accessible van was discussed, item still in work. NEW BUSINESS: Melanie advised that she would like to set a meeting for a Veteran Forum to discuss numerous VA issues, she provided a handout and will set that time and date, possibly in early August.. The next Garrison Flag raising is scheduled for Labor Day, JR will put an announcement in the newspaper for public participation, also will contact the Boy Scouts and ROTC. We discussed the installation of a bulletin board/comment box at Veterans Park, item will remain open pending staffing with the Committee and City officials. We also discussed the possibility of having static displays at the park, item still open. GOOD OF THE ORDER: Special Forces is having an Enchilada Dinner, date to be announced. There will also be a parade for National Guard returnees, tentatively scheduled for 09/02/06. The Veteran Day Parade is scheduled for 11/11/06. NEXT MEETING: Meeting was adjourned at 10.00am.
