Program/Presentation of the Month: Legislation Update
By: Representatives Jeff Steinborn of District 37&Nate Cote of District 53
A number of pieces of legislation were discussed including Senate Joint Resolution 7
which is a constitutional amendment to exclude Veteran Organizations chartered by Congress
from paying property taxes. Jeff gave an explanation on the four year effort to get this passed
and what it means to the Veteran Organizations and the counties that will lose the tax revenue.
Nate shared his efforts and success with HB 24 `Educational Opportunity for Military Children"
A number of pieces of legislation were discussed and explained about the benefits to veterans
and our communities. We need to get out the vote on supporting the constitutional amendment
during the November election.
Old Business:
Plans for 2010 : Number of items were listed on agenda to work on for the upcoming year
including but not limited to:
Veterans Corner update and keep the website current.
Walk of Honor The new brochure was reviewed and comments made on how to improve
it to make less confusing with the Memorial Wall. Pictures in the W. of H. brochure
will only show pavers or Veterans and not a shot of the Memorial Wall.
Holiday Flag Schedule Distribute the schedule for 2010

Old Business continued:
United Veterans Council : Frank Geisel, secretary of U.V.C., gave an update of the dinner that the
U.V.C. recently held at V.F. W. Post 3242 as a fundraiser. Proceeds from the dinner will be$1800 to
$1900 for the council to operate during the upcoming year.
An updated tri-fold U.V.C.brochure will be coming out during March.
Calendar of Events: We need to submit events early as possible to get the most coverage that we can
and to support each others activities. The calendar for 2010 is open for input to list events and activities
that we schedule on an annual basis.
New Business:
Chair asked each representative to identify any upcoming activities.
DAV 10 will host a yard sale at the American Legion on March 6d'- It's open to all veterans and
Veterans' Organizations to sell STUFF and the cost is only$5 a table space. The American Legion
Auxiliary will be selling breakfast burritos as well.
The 21St annual Bataan Memorial Death March is coming on Sunday,March 21St. Everyone is
encouraged to attend and support this event.
Good of the Veterans:

to attend and show our support to the nearly 6000 Marchers who will be participating.
Holiday Flag Schedule: Upcoming holiday for Holiday Flag raising is: EASTER on Sunday April 4th
