Steve Pandak Veteran Case Manager, Mesilla Valley Community of Hope Cindy Montoya VA Clinic,Las Cruces Terry Kebbel Community -ADA Reading of Minutes: The minutes for the meeting conducted on June 22, 2010 were read. A motion was made by Mike Burleson to accept the minutes as presented and seconded by Dee Angel. Old Business: The Garrison Flag schedule was presented as follows: September 6 -Labor Day September 11 -Patriot Day September 17 - Constitution Day New Business: 1. Frank Geisel presented a brief discussion concerning a meeting with Mayor Miyagishima: a. The Mayor is intensely interested in continuing the council operation. b. The Mayor has appointed Dolores Archuleta to be his representative at our meetings. c. The City Council will be asked to extend the terms of appointment for all members. D. Veterans Day activities,principally the parade, are arranged by the City,with Bob Jaska and Bill Hawkins making all arrangements and coordination. 2. The burial ceremony for homeless/unknown veterans was discussed. Good of the Veterans Veterans Organizations: No input Community Organizations: 1. Steve Pandak advised that there are a total of 20 living quarters for homeless veterans, all of which are now occupied. 2. Cindy Montoya reported that there is no positive timeline for the construction of a new Beaumont Hospital in El Paso. Expansion ofthe VA center in El Paso will be dependent upon the construction of the new hospital. Additionally, there is discussion in the VA community for possible expansion of the VA clinic in Las Cruces. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Meeting was closed with final respect to the colors. Veterans Organizations: No input Community Organizations: 1.
