Muir Veteran Reading of Minutes: The minutes for the meeting of July 21 2010 were read; however a quorum was not present and no action was taken on approval of the minutes. Old Business: The schedule was reviewed for raising and lowering the Garrison Flag at the Veterans Park. New Business: 1. Renewal of VAB membership was discussed. Most members received notification from the City Clerk that their membership had been renewed and were required to submit a completed information form to the City Clerk 2. Dolores Archuleta was announced as the City's Veteran's Liaison on the Veterans Wall. 3.13asic information was announced concerning the Veterans Day Parade, scheduled for Saturday, November 13, 2010. The Garrison Flag will be flown on Thursday,November 11, 2010. The parade is being organized and managed by Bill Hawkins, and an official web site is open for all participants to register. His telephone number is (575) 621-7002. 4. It was announced that the Veterans Wall Committee has been discontinued and that the responsibilities associated with the Wall have been turned over to the Parks Department. 5. The next "Honor Flight" is scheduled to depart on October 7,2010. The committee is working on assembling those who are eligible to participate. Some funding problems remain. 6. Dolores Archuleta announced that plans are being developed for a special ceremony to dedicate the new plaques on the Wall for Operation Desert Storm,Iraqui Freedom, and Afghanistan. More details are forthcoming- it is hoped to have this ceremony on the afternoon of November 11, 2010. Good of the Veterans Veterans Organizations: American Legion Post 10 reminded that the post has a garage sale on the 1 st Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m.to noon. Community Organizations: 1. J.R. Turner stated that veterans claims processing is speeding up. It is suggested that veterans be advised to use care in responding to solicitations by lawyers to help with V A claims. 2. Jackie Williams provided a brief update on VA Clinic activities. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28,2020. Meeting was closed.
