05-01-2001 'of July Meeting Notes for May 1,20( Present: Bill Baird,Eldon Cherry,Richard Parra,Mario Medina,Curtis Rosemond,Lonnie Klein,Las Cruces Symphony(Guest),Rob Caldwell-CLC Public Liaison Officer and Barbara Lopez-CLC Recording Secretary Absent: Joe Martinez Meeting Notes from the April 3, Meeting were approved. Parade Mail out went out to residents in the parade area. Only one complaint call as to location change. A property owner is concerned with where the viewing stand is to be placed. Eldon would like to do some advertising in the Las Cruces Sun News and the Bulletin. Udell Vigil, Public Information Office,put out a Press Release on the parade route and entries. Beverage Curtis said that Allen Theaters may be interested in running advertising commercials for the event. Curtis said that he was not able to get banners printed. Rob said that he would check with GSI for banner printing. Rob and Curtis will determine where media dollars donated by beverage sponsor will be spent. Letters to potential beverage sponsors(Pepsi &Coke)have been sent out. Entertainment Street Festival Entertainment contracts have been confirmed and sent back to us. • Arthur(a child's act)will perform(3) '/z hour shows and and Meet&Greets for$5,000 • Children's Heritage Parade will take place before 10.00 am Opening Ceremonies. • Sunshine Generation and(child singer)Man will also be performing after the Opening Ceremonies. Starlight Amusements carnival will also be participating in the festivities and will provide proof of inspection of equipment and insurance Eldon and Richard would like to include a schedule of events in the parade and vendor packets Vendors Vendor packets will also include a map and the letter Richard would like to leave set up the same as last year on the south side Location of beverage trailers will need to be determined by where they stand to make the most money One trailer will be be set up at Apodaca Park. There will be an addition to the Vendor Application, a place to initial that they understand that they will not sell any drinks. Advertising/Marketing Last year$500 was paid to each of the radio stations that ran advertisements, $1000 to the Sun News, and $3000 for TV advertising, Rob stated that there is no money budgeted for advertising this year Curtis and Rob are to set up a meeting to begin discussions on media. Matrix Capital Bank, Sisbarro, Hilton Hotel, S&H RV and Walmart are all potential sponsors. Curtis to meet with Eldon on Miss Teen and NM USA participating in the parade The National Guard Color Guard will do the Colors at the Opening Ceremonies at the Street Festival Eldon said he would like to get the Mayfield High School Color Guard for the Parade.
